Deneen Vojta reflects on UnitedHealth Group’s response to the pandemic in Fierce Healthcare

In a recent interview with Fierce Healthcare, Deneen Vojta, MD, Executive Vice President for Research and Development at UnitedHealth Group and Chief Physician Executive at OptumLabs, discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated scientific discovery at UnitedHealth Group and beyond. She describes how the OptumLabs team adapted to quickly respond to the pandemic, thanks in part to an emphasis on increased flexibility and a shift to smaller teams focused on specific projects to nimbly move work forward.
Dr. Vojta also shares a few successes from the past year including research that revealed self-swab COVID-19 tests are just as effective as tests conducted by clinician. "In two weeks, we were able to do the study, report the results and get a change made that really helped people," she said.
