Daniel Griffin discusses with CNN potential reasons why some patients with long COVID-19 are reporting symptom relief after vaccination

Daniel Griffin, MD, senior infectious disease fellow at OptumLabs and UnitedHealth Group, was recently interviewed by CNN about the potential science behind why some patients with long COVID-19 are feeling better after receiving a vaccine. Griffin explained some COVID-19 long haulers experience prolonged symptoms because their bodies weren’t able to clear the virus. “Then they get the vaccine. Now they're able to have a proper, robust immune response. That may be what it takes," he said.
While these reports of symptom relief are encouraging, Griffin and others say it’s too soon to tell if vaccine remissions are permanent.
